These people call me several times a week, and no matter what I do, they will not stop. After a recorded message warning me my car\'s warrantee is dangerously close to expiring (I live in Manhattan and own no car), the option of pressing 1 is given.  I\'ve pressed 1 and can\'t get two syllables out before these trolls hang up on me.  I can begin with, \"Please, Sir, I don\'t own a car...,\" or I can yell obscenities into his ear.  Nothing works, because they will not let me finish a sentence.  I tried pretending to be a sweet, gullible lady interested in their \"service,\" and still they hung up on me when I asked, \"What is the name of your company, again?\"  I don\'t understand what their purpose is for harassing me daily like this (?) I\'m also on the official \"do not call list,\" in NY which from what I can tell, does no good at all.  If it\'s not this car warrantee scam, it\'s satellite services or bogus debt consolidation--everyday, several times a day. It\'s driving me crazy.  WHAT TO DO???

My number has been unlisted for several years AND is on the national dnc list. I\'ve never had this one before. How can so many people get hold of unlisted numbers? I wasn\'t home so I couldn\'t answer the call.

  3. Amado says:

I received this same call yesterday.  The caller identified himself as Francis fro Windows Customer Care, warning me that my computer was being hacked and that he would help me.  I would need to open my computer and together we would fix the problem.  I told him I would do NO such thing, for all I knew HE was the hacker and he had the audacity to chortle.  Luckily I had to leave the house for the day, so I don\'t know if he repeatedly continued to call back like some other potential victims claim.  If this scam has been going on for months, the perpetrators are very slow learners...as if Windows would be phoning customers as opposed to Dell or Apple or even Bell or Rogers, either the name of your computer or the name of your server.  Thankfully it seems that most people are too smart to be taken in by these creeps!
